History

After Jesus Christ, one of his twelve disciples, Saint Thomas came to India to spread the teachings of Christ. Then a king named Kondobarnus came to North-West India. Saint Thomas preached the teachings of Christ in North India, West Coast and East Coast. He also built many temples. He came to Venat in AD 52. (Venadu is the area from Kollam to Nanjil Nadu) He converted many people to Christianity.
A solar eclipse occurred on 26 April 1604 AD. King Ravivarma forced the Christians to convert and demolish the Christian temples claiming that the reason for this was the spread of Christianity by the Vedics. Later, some temples were rebuilt at the request of Christian priests.

King Devasakayam told Pillai to leave Christianity. He refused and was imprisoned in 1749 and suffered severe torture for three years. In 1752 he was shot and killed at Kaatadi Hill in Aralwaimozhi and became a Vedic witness. Dutch general Delanoy died in 1779 at the age of 61.
