Brief History:

This parish was initially part of the Mathiravilai church until 1966. When Thundathuvila became a separate parish, Velliyavilai was separated from Mathiravilai and joined with Thundathuvila. The community donated 57 cents of land, and construction began under Fr. Alphonse direction. The church was built with stone and consecrated on December 8, 1968 by Bishop Anicius Swamy. The parish became independent on June 19, 1996, and has since developed community facilities including a marriage hall and library.
