Brief History:

The Jesuit priests established this sacred place in 1600. By 1621, missionary work flourished, with one Jesuit professor from Goa University overseeing twenty villages and baptising approximately 4,000 individuals. The Christian population numbered around 500 at that time, making it the primary Christian settlement in the inland regions. The church walls measure one and a half feet in thickness, and during feast celebrations approximately 2,000 people gather, many travelling from abroad to participate.
