Brief History:

A small shrine dedicated to St. Anne existed in Alwar Thirunagari in 1647. The settlement served as a satellite community of the St. Matthew Cathedral, Tiruchendur. According to Jesuit records from 1644, approximately 30 Christians inhabited this Brahmin-majority region, which later became an important Catholic settlement. The church now serves 32 families as a branch parish, with a 10-day annual feast celebrated in July, concluding on the first Sunday. It is located along the Tirunelveli–Tiruchendur Highway, making it easily accessible to pilgrims and visitors.
