Brief History:

The parish traces its origins to approximately seven generations ago when several families in the predominantly Hindu locality of Pandharampatti embraced Christianity and received baptism. In 1934, Mr. J.P. Roach constructed the first church, dedicating it to Saint Ruth to serve the growing Catholic community. Over the years, the congregation came under the pastoral care of St. Charles Church, Thoothukudi, and later other neighboring parishes before becoming an independent parish. A new church was completed and inaugurated by the Bishop in 2006. On May 22, 2018, Holy Ruth Church was officially established as an independent parish, separated from St. Michael Church, Annanagar, and today serves 83 Catholic families across three worship centers.
