Brief History:

St. Fatima Mata Church was originally established in 1950 as a small thatched chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Health. The chapel faithfully served the local Catholic community for several decades before coming under the pastoral care of Mannarapuram Parish in 1982. As the congregation grew and the original structure aged, a new asbestos-roofed church was constructed with the active participation of parishioners. The rebuilt church was dedicated in 2001 under the title of Our Lady of Fatima, reflecting the community’s deep Marian devotion. Located about 3 kilometres from Mannarapuram on the Tirunelveli–Mannarapuram–Ittamozhi Road, the church serves approximately 17 Catholic families. The annual feast is celebrated over three days during the third week of May, from Friday through Sunday.
