Brief History:

This parish traces its Catholic presence to 1645, making it one of the oldest Catholic communities in the region. The current magnificent church building was constructed beginning in 1906 under Rev. Fr. Makhe SJ, featuring a cruciform design with lime mortar construction reinforced with traditional materials. The parish serves 1,530 families (including branch parishes) with 51 religious communities and 18 affiliated branch churches serving surrounding villages including Seeniapuram, Raidanpatti, Mathur Nagar, and Mamchaburam. A special healing devotion is held on Fridays at 11:00 AM – the Healing Glory of Jesus’ Sacred Heart. The feast is celebrated over ten days centered on June 11.
