Brief History:

Holy Lourdes Mother Church in Umarettiyur is located approximately 40 kilometers from Erode on the Erode-Mettur route. The parish serves around 86 families and 6 religious communities. In 1984, a luminous vision appeared from the church’s crucifix, leaving a cross-shaped mark on a nearby rock that remains visible today and is considered miraculous by devotees. The church complex contains three shrines dedicated to Lourdes Mother, Saint Anthony, and Forest Little Anthony, attracting pilgrims seeking divine blessings. The parish was elevated to independent status in 2016, with Fr. Jerome appointed as its first parish priest. The feast is celebrated with a nine-day novena followed by a one-day festival on February 11th.
