Brief History:

Holy Lourdes Mother Church at Ponnakkonpatti is a branch church under Holy Saviour Church, Malayadipatti, in the Trichy Diocese. The congregation originated in Tiruppattur near Trichy, later relocated to Pichaimani Manickapatti, and eventually settled permanently in Ponnakkonpatti following railway construction work. The village name derives from a resident named Ponnukkon, who was honored through the settlement’s designation. Construction of the church commenced in 1952 but stalled for four decades. Following intervention by the Malayadipatti parish priest, the sanctuary was completed and consecrated on February 29, 1992, by Bishop S. L. Gabriel. The church celebrated its silver jubilee in 2017 and serves 65 families, located approximately 3 kilometers from Malayadipatti. The feast is celebrated in February.
