How to Prepare for Sick Call
Confession, Communion, Anointing
(Be sure to call the priest whenever a relative or friend has become seriously sick. The person does not have to be in danger of death.)
Cover a small table with a cloth. If possible, have the table near the bed or chair of the sick person. Put a crucifix and two lighted candles on the table.
If you have it, provide holy water and a dish with two pieces of cotton. For Holy Communion put out a glass of water and a spoon.
When the priest arrives, meet him at the door with one of the lighted candles and lead him to the sick person. Leave the room if the sick person whishes to go to Confession. After Confession, return and join in the prayers.
