Brief History:
Holy Sebastian Church at Sitra near Coimbatore International Airport was originally established as a small chapel in 1979 to serve airport workers and students. The chapel was blessed on November 17, 1979. Fr. Mary Anthony developed the site from overgrown land into a functioning worship space. A new church was consecrated on April 22, 1990. The current grand church building of 10,000 sq ft was dedicated on January 19, 2019, blessed by Bishop Thomas Aquinas. The church is dedicated to St. Sebastian with St. Joseph Cupertino, patron of aviators, as co-patron. The parish serves approximately 450 families. The feast of St. Sebastian is celebrated on January 20.
