Brief History:

Holy Child Teresa Church, Baloor (Theresapuram), serves a settlement established around 1900. Guided by the principle that no settlement should exist without a place of worship, 15 cents of land were acquired in 1937 through community donations and a chapel was established with a statue of the Holy Child Jesus. The first baptisms occurred that same year. A new church building was constructed and consecrated on December 29, 1952, replacing the original chapel. The parish became a branch of Pootteri in 1956 and today serves approximately 160 families under St. Anthony’s Church, Pootteri.
