Brief History:

Holy Lourdes Mother Church, Alanjolai, was established in 1961 when a small grass-roofed chapel was constructed for twelve founding families. The permanent church building was consecrated on February 11, 1969 by Bishop Anicius Swamy. Under various pastoral leaders the parish grew steadily and was elevated to independent status on May 14, 2009 by Bishop Peter Remigius. The parish now serves approximately 230 families and maintains two affiliated chapels: St. Thomas Chapel at Chittar and St. Francis Salesian Chapel at Sanalkarai.
