Brief History:

Holy Xavier Church, Mallanvilai, traces its origins to approximately 1908 when a small crucifix chapel was constructed in the cemetery area. The current main church was established in 1956 when community members contributed funds for land acquisition. The cornerstone was laid by Fr. Mathias and the church was formally consecrated on September 18, 1960 by Bishop Anicius Swami. A new structure was completed and consecrated on August 2, 2002 by Bishop Leon Anthony Dharmaraj. The parish is a branch of Holy Michael the Archangel Church, Kozhipporvailai, serving approximately 150 families.
