Brief History:

St. Francis Xavier Church, Erattakode, was established in 1935 as a small thatched chapel dedicated to St. Francis Xavier as protector of the community. Land donated by Mr. Vedakkkan enabled expansion and a new church building was constructed in 1954 and consecrated by Bishop Anjisami. The parish achieved independent status thereafter and continued growing; a primary school was established under Fr. Jesurathnam, an auditorium built during Fr. Mary James’s tenure, and a further new church building was completed in 2007. The parish now serves approximately 175 families.
