Brief History:

The church was established approximately a century ago when villagers faced widespread contagious disease outbreaks. Ancestors constructed a palm-thatched chapel and venerated Saint Sandyagappar as their protector, after which the epidemic subsided. The structure was later upgraded to a tiled building, then a permanent concrete edifice under Rev. Fr. Jeganiwasagar. The bell tower was constructed with community cooperation and inaugurated on July 23, 2009 by Rev. Fr. Brito Suresh. A notable characteristic of this sanctuary is that those seeking healing and freedom from afflictions visit this church and find relief through prayer. The church serves 400 families as a branch of Sacred Heart Church, Sathur, and celebrates its feast on July 24 (flag hoisting July 16). Accessible from Sathur or Gobilpatti to Uppathur, alighting at Sangkarapuram.
