Brief History:

St. Forest Chinnapar Church at Karumbarai is a branch church under St. Sebastian Church, Nagalur, in the Anthiyur Deanery of the Ooty Diocese. Approximately 200 years ago, a local cattle herder named Rayappan constructed a cross near a rock for divine protection. The site gained spiritual significance after workers who attempted to quarry the sacred rock experienced sudden blindness. Villagers recognized a divine presence at the location and began worshipping there. The church was formally established through the efforts of Rev. Fr. George Inchiparampil (1976-1989), with construction completed in 1979. The parish currently serves 80 families and 4 religious sisters. The feast is celebrated on the third Sunday following Easter.
