Brief History:

St. Sebastian’s Church in Nagalur was established in 1861 under Rev. Bartho with donations from parishioners. The church was built following a cholera outbreak in which local residents invoked St. Sebastian for divine protection. A cross planted near the church at that time remains visible today. The structure was consecrated on September 12, 1925, by Bishop Augustine Ruva of the Mysore Diocese. The parish serves approximately 420 families and 15 religious sisters. Branch churches include St. Forest Little Anthony Church at Karupparai and St. Anthony Church at Karadikkal. The feast is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of January.
