Brief History:

This ancient branch parish operates under Edappadi Parish in the Salem Diocese. The ‘RC’ designation derives from the Catholic faith of its residents. Christianity was established here simultaneously with Edappadi, making the community over 360 years old. A notable miracle involved a crippled boy who received healing through the Mother’s grace centuries ago. The diocese’s first religious vocation originated from RC Rettiur – Sister Chinnamma. The first church was constructed in 1828, followed by a thatched-roof structure in the 20th century. The foundation stone for the current church was laid during Rev. Fr. John Bosco Paul’s tenure (2001-2006), with construction completed under Rev. Fr. Anthony Maria Joseph (2006-2008), and the church was formally consecrated on September 8, 2007.
