Brief History:

Originally part of Athur Parish, Vazhapadi became an independent parish in 1958. The church structure was purchased in 1957 and consecrated in 1958 by Bishop Selvanathan. The church serves as a shrine dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, attracting numerous devotees particularly on Tuesdays, with documented miracles and healing testimonies reported by the faithful. The parish serves 350 families and has four affiliated sub-parishes including Nallaayaan Church in Pailoor and Holy Immaculate Mother Church in Sesantsavadi. The feast of Saint Pius X is celebrated on August 20. Located approximately 25 km from Salem via the Salem-Athur route. The parish belongs to the Salem Diocese.
