History
To know about the history of Malaiyadipatti, it is necessary to mention the political movements that took place during that period. At the end of December 1659, the Mysore army was coming to besiege Tiruchirappalli. The Mysore king Gandivaran came to Madurai in 1656 to wage war against the Nayaks. The soldiers captured Sathyamangalam, which is rich in water and land, and plundered the whole town. Due to this, the Christian people in the secret place were also greatly affected.
At this time the Mysore soldiers engaged in the act of cutting off the noses of Madurai Nayak’s soldiers. Although they were eventually chased away by Nayak’s troops, the city of Tiruchirappalli was plunged into anxiety and turmoil due to their attack. King Chokanathar ruled Madurai at that time. He is the grandson of Thirumalai Nayak; Muthu II was the son of Veerappa Nayak. He ascended the throne on his 16th birthday in July 1659.
Adikalar gathered the Christians there and in search of a safe place, traveled from Tiruchirappalli towards the south-west direction. Fronza, who was the head of the Madurai underground station, worked in the areas around Tiruchirappalli for many years. He strove to spread Christianity in the hidden places (Vidthilamboondi) like Kandalur and Malaiyadipatti in Tiruchirappalli. He lived by the award motto ‘My debt is working.’
Anthony Fromenza continued to work in and around Vidtillamboondi. Two years later the temple had 400 Christians. This development further fueled the work
