King Devasakayam told Pillai to leave Christianity. He refused and was imprisoned in 1749 and suffered severe torture for three years. In 1752 he was shot and killed at Kaatadi Hill in Aralwaimozhi and became a Vedic witness. Dutch general Delanoy died in 1779 at the age of 61.
