Brief History:

In 1911, Fr. Ignatius desired to construct a church for Mother Mary on elevated ground. According to local tradition, Mother Mary appeared to the priest in a vision, directing him to build the shrine at Thirumalapuram Hill instead of the initially planned location. A miraculous water source emerged in 1911 during construction, believed to provide healing benefits to pilgrims. A Calvary Hill Chapel was built in 1935 featuring a crucifix, and the Rosary Mother Chapel was built in 1933-34 at the base. A Centenary Chapel was constructed for the 100-year celebration. The shrine features a Stations of the Cross pathway from the base leading to the hilltop Calvary chapel. The feast is celebrated on Fridays following the full moon in February over three days.
