Brief History:

The church was established in 1660, following Saint Xavier’s canonization in 1622. Some families in Tirunelveli Town accepted Christ during Xavier’s missionary work in South India, with seven families having ancestral connections to the Nawab’s service. Originally under Veeravannallur parish, it came under Pattai administration from 1742. The building underwent renovations in 1941, 1998 (roof replacement), and 2007. In 2005, it became a branch of the newly established Our Lady of Refuge Church. An entrance pavilion was constructed in 2015. The church serves 30 families as a branch parish. The feast is celebrated November 24 to December 3.
