Brief History:

The settlement was established approximately 150 years ago by three families in this palm-tree-laden region. By 1901, the community had grown to around 40 members. During a severe cholera outbreak, residents invoked St. Sebastian’s protection, and remarkably no one died from the disease, strengthening their devotion. The original thatched chapel was relocated in 1948 due to land disputes. An asbestos-roofed structure was built in 1953, followed by a new church constructed in 1992. An 85-foot tower was completed in 2004, with a flagpole installed in 2017. The church is a branch of Our Lady of Refuge Church, Tirunelveli Town, serving 70 families. The feast is celebrated on the first Sunday of September.
