Brief History:

Worship began in 1638 at a thatched chapel, and the church was formally built in 1798. This ancient sanctuary underwent extensive renovations from 1884-1887 and features an impressive altar built in 1905, styled similarly to those in Goa and Mangalore. The parish is distinguished by having two renowned shrines as its branches, including the famous Thirumalai Lourdes shrine. The church serves 4,508 families including branch villages: Thirumalapuram, Thannuttu, Govilandanur, Kallampuli, Injasinarur, Vellankulam, Dharmathurani, Vepankulam, Pudhukigramam, and Renganathapuram. The feast is celebrated June 20-29 over ten days.
