Brief History:
Originally part of Nagalalapuram parish, Vemboor operated as a subsidiary chapel with a tiled roof. When Kottur became an independent parish, Vemboor transferred under its jurisdiction. During Fr. Mark Stephen’s tenure at Kottur, fifteen families were settled near Vemboor Road and a new church was constructed. The church was dedicated by Bishop Peter Fernando on May 20, 2003, becoming the 99th parish of Thoothukudi Diocese. The feast is celebrated at Christmas each year in honour of the Child Jesus.
