Brief History:

According to local tradition, two Hindu brothers planned to build a village temple in Meenawankulam and set out on a pilgrimage to obtain sacred earth. During their return journey, the younger brother suffered severe pain in his leg. After praying to Jesus, he was miraculously healed, inspiring both brothers to embrace Christianity. In gratitude, the growing Catholic community constructed a beautiful church with a distinctive curved dome in 1892, establishing an important center of faith in the region. Dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, the church is located about 8 kilometers west of Nanguneri on the Kalakkad–Tirunelveli route. The annual parish feast is celebrated on October 7 in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary.
