Brief History:

Holy Susaiappar Church, Unnankulam, was established in 1968 when the local Catholic community replaced its original thatched prayer hall with a permanent tile-roofed church dedicated to St. Joseph (Susaiappar). As the building aged and became unsuitable for worship, the faithful, with the encouragement and support of the parish priest of Nanguneri, undertook the construction of a new church. The foundation stone was laid on September 21, 2002, and the completed church was solemnly consecrated on April 30, 2003, by Bishop Dr. Joseph Xavier. Today, the church serves around 40 Catholic families as a branch of Christ the King Church, Nanguneri. Located on the Nanguneri–Mulakkaraipadi–Unnankulam route, the parish celebrates its annual feast from April 22 to May 1 in honour of St. Joseph.
