Brief History:

This small village is surrounded by limestone rock formations throughout the landscape. The settlement takes its name from the rocks and a small pond nestled among them, locally termed a kutai, giving it the name Paraikuttam. Through missionary efforts, residents converted to Christianity and a modest chapel was established in 1910 under the name of St. Anthony of Padua, serving approximately fifty Catholic families. The structure underwent restoration in 1957 and again in 1987. The church was rebuilt in 2004 and consecrated in August 2005 by Bishop Juan Ambrose, and currently serves 11 families as a branch of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Komapadi.
