Brief History:

Several centuries ago, ancestors established a modest shrine in the agricultural settlement of Muthulapuram along the Nambi River. The structure was rebuilt in 1805 as a small stone church and was later reconstructed in its present form around 1960 to accommodate the growing number of devotees. When Nangguneri became an independent parish in 1937, this church became one of its mission chapels. Today, the parish serves 152 Catholic families. The annual feast in honor of St. Sebastian is celebrated over ten days during the Pongal season, culminating on January 15 (Thai 15).
