History
St. Thomas Church, Dulabitha was originally a sub-station of Belatanr Parish. Later, it became an independent parish in 1982 to serve the growing Catholic community in the region. Rev. Fr. Celestine Murmu was the first resident parish priest and played an important role in the early development of the mission.
Afterwards, a new church building was constructed under the leadership of Rev. Fr. C. J. Mathew and was blessed on 3 May 1994. Over the years, many dedicated priests served the parish and strengthened its pastoral, educational, and spiritual ministries. Moreover, their efforts helped the parish grow in faith and community life.
Today, St. Thomas Church serves around 800 Catholics from approximately 180 families across 20 villages. In addition, the parish offers Holy Mass, catechism classes, sacramental celebrations, youth programs, and charitable activities throughout the year. Therefore, the church continues to be an important center of Catholic worship and service in Giridih district.
