Brief History:

Rev Fr Parampet, a great Missionary in Tiruttani area founded this mission centre. In 1971 this centre was erected as a separate parish by Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore Most Rev Dr Casimir Gnanadickam SJ. While consecrating this church, he proclaimed Our Mother in Tiruttani as ‘Thanigai Pudhumai Madha’ and from that day a special Noveva is being conducted on the 8th of every month.

The town is famous for the Tiruttani Murugan Temple, an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Kartikeya, also known as Murugan, the Hindu god of war. This Catholic church serves the local faithful under the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore.
