Brief History:

In the year 1987 a small chapel was built here to fulfil the spiritual needs of twenty Catholic families and was made a sub-station to Ambathur. Later a big Church was constructed by Rev Fr PJ Lawrence Raj. On 21st May 2000, Mannurpet was erected as a separate parish and entrusted to the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament Fathers. Rev Fr Arul Tharsius SSS was the first Parish Priest. The Blessed Sacrament Fathers renovated the altar, constructed a belfry and built the presbytery and a community hall. On 15th August every year, the Sagaya Annai Feast is celebrated with enthusiasm.
