Brief History:

By 1558 itself Koothenkuzhy had a beautiful church is known to us from the Jesuit annual report of the same year. When Idindakarai functioned as an independent parish (1730), Koothenkuzhy and Koodankulam were its substations. It is mentioned that at Koothenkuzhy, a church dedicated to St. John the Baptist and another church of the Goa Mission dedicated to St. Joseph existed in 1715. It became a parish of its own in 1924. In the time of Fr. Michael G, Bishop Roche laid foundation for the present Epiphany church in 1930. Work of completed in 1966 and the church was consecrated on the 5th of January in the same year.
