Brief History:

Holy Heavenly Mother Church, Settivilai (Selvanagar), is rooted in a centuries-old local tradition surrounding a miraculous shrine. According to longstanding belief, Christian settlers discovered a stone cross in a nearby forest during the eighteenth century. Encouraged by this remarkable finding, they excavated the site and uncovered a sacred shrine dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, giving rise to lasting devotion within the community. Inspired by this heritage, the faithful worked together to construct the present church, which was solemnly dedicated on October 28, 1975, under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1992, the church was elevated as an independent parish and has since become an important spiritual centre for the surrounding villages. The annual parish feast is celebrated over ten days, beginning on September 21 and concluding with the main celebration on September 30.
