Brief History:

Singithurai is a small fisherish village with 210 families, 2 k.m. to the east of Kayalpatnam. People of Kizhavaipar and Sippikulam who came to this place only during “Lobster season” (Singi Eral), eventually began to dwell in here. Having been a substation of Veerapandiyanpatnam since 1992, Singithurai became an independent parish in 2002. Foundation for the church was laid in 2001 and construction was complete in 2001. The church and rectory were built in the time of Fr. Xavier George as the parish priest of Veerapandiyanpatnam.
