Brief History:
The village known now as Anthoniarpuram came to exist in 1890. A few years before that people had been living about half a kilometer from the village under the leadership of Mr. Siluvaimuthu Nadar. They built a thatched church and worshipped with a Crucifix and a statute of St. Antony. Later they moved to the east and built a thatched church in the place where our old church had been. In 1925 a church was built. As population increased, Fr. William, as parish priest of Pudukottai laid the foundation for a bigger church. On the 17th of July 2001, Bishop Peter Fernando bifurcated Anthoniarpuram from Pudukottai and laid foundation for the rectory. Fr. Selva George became its first parish priest and the church was consecrated on the 15th of January 2002. The primary school started on 3-6-1900 was upgraded as a middle school on 3-6-2002. The substations Maravanmadam and Madathur had been ancient missions. The church is Madathur was built by Fr. Puje in 1877.
