History

History of Konkarpalayam Saint Susaiyappa Temple
Saint #Arulanandar was forced to stay in Sathyamangalam for about 27 days in June 1674. It is said that he came to Konkarpalayam via Vaniputtur while visiting the towns around Sathyamangalam. Saint Arulananda’s journey started again on the first day of July. The arrival of the saint who established Christianity in Konkarpalayam may have been the first step.
History also says that when Saint Arulanandar was teaching, a temple was built on the hill called Muthup Palayam in the western part of the town. [Short History of the Coimbatore Mission by Rev.L.Bechu page 23].
The first temple was built in the year 1922 by Mr. Mita Thiru Pethi. That is, this place with an area of 60 cents was started by the French priest Petit (Petit) who came from Kodiveri and consecrated on 19.03.1924. But the British government canceled the title to the land on the grounds that these settlers were French citizens. Thereafter, on 26.04.1926, a charter was granted to this land in the name of Coimbatore District Bishop. When the Coimbatore Diocese was divided in 1955, this church was functioning as a part of the Utagai Diocese.
In 1986, Reverend Maria Pascal Adikalar, who served in this capacity, installed a shrine to Mother Mary on the roadside in front of the church. To this day all pilgrims pray to Mother Mary as a special feature
