Brief History:

Holy Ascension of Mary Church, Ponmanai, was established on August 22, 1957, when land was purchased from Mr. Savarimuthy and initially dedicated to Holy Immaculate Mary. The church was significantly expanded in 1990 under Fr. Silvester John to accommodate the growing congregation of 60 families. The name was officially changed to Holy Ascension of Mary in 2010 when the parish was registered in the diocese. A new church structure was completed and consecrated on November 24, 2021 by the former bishop.
