Brief History:

Assumption of Mary Church, Pudukadai, was established when fisher folk settled in the area and constructed a small chapel dedicated to Mary in 1765. The stone church was built in 1845 to serve the growing Catholic community. The present granite structure was consecrated on March 29, 1911, featuring twelve pillars representing Christ’s apostles, an English bell, and a Belgian painting of Mary. The parish serves approximately 174 families as a shared parish.
