Brief History:
The community originally worshipped in a thatched structure before constructing a small stone chapel dedicated to St. Joseph in 1854-1856 with support from both Christian and Hindu residents. The modern church was established in 1912 as a branch parish and became independent in 1954. The congregation, primarily composed of stone carvers, contributed significantly to its development, including a notable single stone flagpole carved from a single granite block in 1952, standing 35 feet tall. It now serves approximately 858 Catholic families.
