Brief History:

The Sembaadu village residents traditionally relied on palm cultivation for their livelihood. European missionary Fr. Gausanial, working in the Kallikkulum area, introduced Christian teachings to the local people, resulting in ten families receiving baptism. A small clay structure with a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes became their first place of worship. After Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kizhavneri became an independent parish, Sembaadu was established as one of its branch churches. Construction of the present church began in 1976 during the tenure of Fr. Amirtham and was completed in 1977 under the leadership of Fr. Sengol Mani. The parish currently serves 25 Catholic families.
