St. Sebastian Church
Vadakkankulam
Vadakkankulam, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu.
Parish Priest – Rev. Fr. Martin Manuel.
Church Established – 1929.

Brief History:

During the late nineteenth century, eleven Catholic families lived along the northeastern boundary of Vadakkankulam near the Anuman River. As the parish church was located far from their homes, they established a small prayer shrine to meet their spiritual needs. Around 1929, local devotees working in Sri Lanka contributed monthly donations that enabled the construction of a permanent church. As the congregation grew, the church was relocated and rebuilt in 1974, and a new structure was again constructed in 2003 after the earlier building had deteriorated. Dedicated to St. Sebastian, the church celebrates its annual feast from January 11 to January 20 with special liturgical celebrations and community gatherings.
