Brief History:
The congregation in Irayamangalam developed under the guidance of Namakkal parish priests who ministered to newly converted Christians. When Perungurichi Parish became an independent parish in 1946, Irayamangalam operated under its jurisdiction. During Rev. Fr. M. S. Martin’s tenure (2004-2006) at Perungurichi, the Saint Xavier Church was constructed. It was consecrated by Salem Diocese Bishop Rev. C. Singarayyan on August 28, 2005. Upon Solasirammani Parish‘s establishment as an independent parish in 2005, Irayamangalam became its branch church. The church serves 27 families and celebrates its feast on December 25 in honour of Saint Francis Xavier. Located on the road from Solasirammani to Patlur. The parish belongs to the Salem Diocese.
