Brief History:

The shrine originated in 1974-1975 when Vaikkai Colony residents established a welfare association and sought to build a church. After acquiring land, the first Mass was celebrated on Christmas 1975. A small chapel was constructed in 1976, and the current main shrine building was dedicated on October 6, 1979. It has since become a prominent pilgrimage site in Madurai Archdiocese, serving approximately 450 families with three branch churches and multiple faith-based organizations. The feast is celebrated from August 29 to September 8 each year.
