Brief History:

This parish originated as the 73rd mission station under Madurai Archdiocese, established through the efforts of Rev. Fr. Anthony Bagyam (former Virudunagar Vicar). Construction began in January 2007 on a hexagonal structure, with the foundation stone laid on November 4, 2006. After eight years of challenges, completion occurred in 2017, followed by ecclesiastical consecration by Bishop Anthony Pappusamy on October 1, 2017. The parish serves 340 families (including four branch parishes – St. Anthony’s in Sulakkarai, St. Xavier’s in Velloor, St. Sebastian’s in Mulipatty, St. Michael’s in Burma Colony). The feast is celebrated in October over ten days concluding the following Saturday-Sunday after October 7.
