Brief History:

Spanish Jesuit Rev. Fr. Emilio Ukartherne arrived in Kodaikanal in 1972. He founded a public welfare association and purchased 7.97 acres of land in 1973 to establish residential plots. The neighborhood was named Ukarthernagar in his memory. The parish was established on August 30, 2009, when it was separated from Chenbagannur and Munjekal parishes. It became the eighth parish in the Kodaikanal area and the first shrine dedicated to the Child Jesus in the mountainous region. The foundation stone was laid on April 7, 2013, by the late Archbishop Peter Fernando. The parish serves approximately 450 families with two branch churches: Holy Health Mother Church (Utkad) and Saint Michael Archangel Church (Srinivaspuram). The feast is celebrated from January 5-15.
