Brief History:
The church serves tea plantation workers who migrated from various locations to seven villages in the Western Ghats. Originally attached to Rayappanpatty parish in 1960, this parish was established in 1969 by Rev. Fr. Ponnad (Jesuit) and named after the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Elevated to parish status in 2012, the restored sanctuary was consecrated on June 5, 2019, by Archbishop Anthony Pappusamy. Under Rev. Fr. Arokiraj’s leadership over ten years, the parish grew from 30 to 75 families. The feast is celebrated around May 12 over three days. Route: Theni – Chinnamanur – Megamalai – Manalur.
