Brief History:

The church traces its origins to 1735 when Daatur Ananthan led Christian settlers from Thadikkombai to a thorn-covered forest near present-day Dindigul. They established a small shrine and named their settlement after Ananthan. Through centuries of persecution and displacement, the community persevered. Jesuit missionaries constructed a stone church in 1785, followed by establishment of Holy Apostle Thomas School in 1872. The current structure was rebuilt in 1910, formally dedicated as Our Lady of Good Health Church to unite the Catholic community under one parish identity. Eucharistic adoration began in 1929, with the Stations of the Cross installed in 1933. The church serves 2,590 families and the feast is celebrated on the first Friday of September over 14 days.
